Buffalo Bills Private Workout For QB E.J. Maneul

When Tarvaris Jackson tops the depth chart and your new coach can't name the backup, it's time to go hunting for a quarterback.

The Buffalo Bills tweeted that the team is scheduled to hold a private workout with Florida State's EJ Manuel on Saturday. This comes one day after the Bills were slated to work out West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith.
Smith widely is regarded as the top prospect under center, but Manuel has risen in the eyes of Mike Mayock, the NFL Network draft analyst who vaulted the mobile signal-caller to No. 2, behind Smith, on his position-by-position rankings. Manuel is seen as a raw, but intriguing athlete with experience in the read-option.
"You know I don't like this quarterback class, so if I'm going to make a mistake, I finally decided I'm going to make a mistake with a kid with size, arm talent and athletic ability, and I think that's what Manuel has," Mayock said earlier this month.
This quarterback group is underwhelming, but Bills coach Doug Marrone is aware his cupboard is bare at the position. If you're looking for a team primed to reach for a ho-hum passer at the 2013 NFL Draft, look no further than Buffalo at No. 8.
