Buffalo Bills Training Camp Day 7 Evans, Owens, Schobel and McGee Day Off

The Buffalo Bills have a extended training camp because they will participate in the Hall Of Fame game next week in Canton, Ohio so, Coach Dick Jauron decided to give his veterans players a day off. The veteran players who were given the day off are Lee Evans, Terrell Owens, Terrance McGee and Aaron Schobel. The reason for some of them They just needed a day off, "said Jauron. They worked awfully hard this week. Lee and Terrell run a lot of routes and we have been low at the receiver position and we got a couple of guys back for practice so we thought it would be good to give the a break. Aaron Schobel speaks for himself and Terrance McGee work so hard. We have got a good idea what these players can do. Outside of executing hand-offs in practice in practice Trent Edwards was another player who got the majority of practice off. Jauron said that his quarterback is ahead of his pitch count. Jauron said that Edwards up around 200 throws already and they only want him to throw between 450-600 passes through the course of training camp. Backup Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick got some extra snaps with the first team offensive line. It Was great, Ryan Fitzpatrick said of the extra practice time. Anytime you can get extra reps like me, certainly in a new offense and everything. I will take them. It is good to work with the number one Offensive Line unit just for communication and tempo. The highlights of the today's camp is that Ashton Youboty started in place of Terrance McGee with the first unit. I was surprised because I thought that Youboty might be on the chopping block when it came to the final cuts on the Bills 53 man roster. The two Offensive Line rookies got a majority of the reps with the first unit but Chambers and McKinney are still part of the rotation. This afternoon Fred Jackson caught a touchdown pass from Hamdan and Lynch had some quality yards rushing during practice. This was your typical training camp practice.

Buffalo Bills Training Camp Day 6 "The New Bills Offense"

The Buffalo Bills are planning to use the no-huddle offense this year with the addition of Free Agent Wide Receiver Terrell Owens as focal point of there wide receiver corp. Trent Edwards will have to use all his Stanford education to study all the game situations that encompass using the Offense during a large portion of a Football game. The most important thing is if Trent can recognize defenses and put his running backs and wide receivers in the right position to make enough plays to win football games. Trent will have to make quick decisions on the fly and to exploit weakness on the defensive side of the football. Much of the stress will be put on Trent who will approach the line of scrimmage with a called play, but has the option to change it depending on the defense scheme. The Bills no-huddle Offense under the leadership of Hall Of Fame Quarterback Jim Kelly in which they only ran four running plays was very effective because, you had a great Offensive Line and a great Center in Kent Hull who could make all the right Offensive Line Calls. The Bills Offensive Coordinator simplified the Bills no-huddle offense for Jim Kelly and created multiple plays with simple audible calls from the line scrimmage. Trent Edwards has some serious weapons to work with starting with Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson as Running backs because theses two running backs can run a catch the which is very important in having a successful no-huddle offense. The Addition of Free Agent Dominic Rhodes will help Lynch and Jackson transition to a much faster offense. The Bills could have the best wide receiver corp in the NFL with Terrell Owens, Lee Evans, Josh Reed, Roscoe Parrish, Stevie Johnson and James Hardy. This Offensive should be explosive and there is no reason why this edition of the Bills should not be in the top ten in scoring offense this season in the NFL. The biggest problem the Bills will have is a inexperienced Offensive Line with potential starters at Offensive Guard could be rookies Eric Wood and Andy Levitre. This could slow down the process in transitioning the offense into a no-huddle offense early in the season. The Offense Line will be the weak position on the Bills football team and the media and fans will have to be patient with there progress. Finally this offense involves a lot more communication which is another reason that the Bills are spending so much time on it. So, far the Bills have grasped the offense very well. The Bills have done a great job in practice with the offense. The tempo of the offense is similar to what the Bills will use during a regular season game. We will find out how well the no-huddle Offense is working on September14 when the Bills play they hated rival the New England Patriots.

Buffalo Bills Training Camp Day 5 "Bills Sign Wood And Byrd"

The Buffalo Bills got one of there first round draft picks under contract as Offensive Linemen Eric Wood signed his contract and headed straight to practice. It has been a long few days Wood told the Bills local media. My intentions were not to holdout, but that is just kind of the way it happened. That is not my style, but it is what it is. I want to thank Mr. Wilson and Mr. Overdorf for all there hard work to get me in camp, even if it is a few days late. After missing seven practices the Louisville product is eager to get going as he was crawling up the walls knowing that his team was practicing without him. Wood expected to compete with the veteran Seth McKinney at Right guard in much the same way as a fellow rookie Andy Levitre has been competing with curt chambers for the Left Guard position ever since he arrived in camp Monday. The Bills also, signed the Second round pick Jarius Byrd but he will not be taking the field with his teammates right away. Byrd was placed on the Active Non-Football injury list. He still counts toward the active roster, but will not be participating In practice right away. The Oregon product missed all the team spring workouts due to his schools late final exams. It forced Byrd to miss valuable time on he field, especially since he is transitioning from Cornerback in college to a safety with the Bills. But in mid-June Byrd spent a couple of weeks at One Bills Drive studying up on Perry Fewell's Defense Scheme with Defensive backs coach George Catavolos. To make room for Byrd on the roster the Bills also placed wide receiver P. K. Sam on the waived/injured list. The highlights from Bills practice was the play of their defensive backs. Terrance McGee had his best day of practice with a pair of pass break-ups on throws intended to Terrell Owens. McGee said it was there intention to be more aggressive in light of all the double moves the receivers were throwing at them. Defending against the like of Owens, Evans and Parrish has raised the level of the Bills secondary. Fellow starting Bills Cornerback Ledios McKelvin made his first big play of training camp pulling in a over the shoulder interception in the end zone on a pass from Trent Edwards. But McKelvin had to pull himself out of practice after straining his left quad. Ko Simpson could have had his second interception of training camp but he could not hold on to the wet ball. The Bills Defense had strong day stopping the Bills Offense on the final two-minute drive when Trent Edwards threw a check down pass to Fred Jackson who was well short of the first down. The surprise of the camp Ellis Lankster got some second team reps. with the defense. The Bills also signed Free Agent Shaine Smith on Wednesday. I have been working hard in the off season all in need is a opportunity to showcase my skills. said Smith after a walk through practice Wednesday mourning. Smith 6' 2 189 spent last year training camp with St. Louis Rams, but not make the final roster. The Hofstra product was on the New York Jets Practice squad in 2007. He will wear jersey number 87 for the Bills. The Bills will practice under the lights Thursday night

Buffalo Bills Training Camp Day 4 "Under The Lights Practice"

The Buffalo Bills had there first night practice with the team in pads. The various team positions squared off against each other early in the practice session. The Bills had the "Sorry Ass" Tight Ends blocking the Defensive Ends and the Defensive ends were getting the best of the battles. The Tight Ends tried but the Defensive Ends are much more experienced group and showed it. The battle between the Receivers and Cornerbacks in one-on-ones Terrell Owens had a long touchdown pass down the sidelines from Trent Edwards. There was some sprited battles between Offensive and Defensive Lineman. The most notable was between Brad Butler and Chris Kelsay as they went toe-to-toe for a while. During the running game period of practice there were a few good hits when Kyle Williams "Stuck" Bruce Hall in the backfield for a loss. Ashlee Palmer shot the gap and also stuck Bruce Hall in the backfield. Bruce Hall had a tough practice. The Bills Kickoff team returners were Fred Jackson and Leodis McKelvin who were extremely explosive last year. The punt return team top man Roscoe Parrish who is one of the top punt returners in the NFL. The most notable changes in training camp is that Drayton Florence is now the starting Nickle Cornerback. He replaced Reggie Corner and third nickle Cornerback is Ashton Youboty. Finally, the highlights of the practice that Trent Edwards threw a touchdown to Derek Fine and Gibran Hamdon threw a 35 yard touchdown to Justin Jenkins. Lee Evans caught a few nice passes from Edwards during practice. Ellis Lankster made a nice interception during practice. Lankster has made some nice plays during training camp.

Buffalo Bills Training Camp Day 3 "The Offensive Line is Terrible"

The first day in watching the Buffalo Bills in pads it seems like the Bills have a serious problem at there Offensive Line position. The Guard position maybe on life support because the Bills Defense had there way early in the practice. Keith Ellison broke through the line and smashed the running back in the backfield. A few plays later John McCargo got between the guard and tackle and disrupted the running play. Kawika Mitchell and Chris Ellis both got penetration on one play as they were in position to register a tackle for a loss. Aaron Schobel, Bryan Scott and Paul Posluszny all found there way into the Bills backfield as they seemed to be coming from all angles. The Bills need a extra pre-season game because that Offensive Line could be the worst in the NFL. The Bills better sign Michael Vick because, I personally don't think that Trent Edwards will survive a whole season behind the flawed Bills Offensive Line. The Bills need to get Eric Wood signed to a contract soon because this Offensive Line will need some serious reps. during the pre-season games if they are going to compete against the Patriots on September 14. The highlights of the day was Terrell Owens catching a long touchdown pass from Trent Edwards. Trent also, threw some nice passes to Josh Reed who is Trent Edwards underneath safety blanket. I love this second year running back Bruce Hall who might have a outside chance of stealing a roster spot from veteran running back Dominic Rhodes. The only reason Rhodes might be on the 53 man roster because of the suspension of Marshawn Lynch. Owner Ralph Wilson made his first appearance at Bills Training Camp and received a nice ovation from Bills Fans. This was the first time Terrell Owens has met Ralph Wilson.

Buffalo Bills Second Round Pick Andy Levitre Signed Training Camp Day 3

The Buffalo Bills after some long hours the past couple of days of negations between the Bills second round draft pick Andy Levitre cam to a final accord as the Offense Lineman signed with the club late Sunday night. Andy Levitre is 6' 2 305 pound Offensive Linemen from Oregon State. Levitre is the fifth draft pick to sign out of eight draft picks to sign his rookie contract and is expected to be on the field for the team's first practice in pads practice on Monday. The Oregon State product is going to compete for a starting position at the left Guard position on the Buffalo Bills revamped Offensive Line. Levitre comes in ready to prove that he is ready to start as a Bills Offensive Lineman. Levitre and Wood will try and take starting Offensive Lineman position from veterans Curt Chambers and Seth McKinney. The Bills still have three unsigned rookies Aaron Maybin, Eric Wood and Jarius Byrd. I expect Byrd and Wood to be in the next few days.

Buffalo Bills Training Camp Day 2

The Buffalo Bills offense played extremely well Sunday Mourning. The Bills quarterbacks played well even though there was a lot of pressure put on the Quarterbacks. Perry Fewell defense appeared to be making more pressure calls through the course of out teams segment of practice. It starts up front with myself and Geoff Hangartner recognizing what the front is and where are the Linebackers are and I have to be on the same page with my receivers in where the secondary is says, Trent Edwards. I know that our defense does a great job disguising those things and disguising those fronts. Edwards beat the blitz on one play as he, took two steps to the right and flicked a pass underneath to Terrell Owens who was across the field. Trent also, hit Lee Evans down the sidelines for a big gainer despite some pressure coming off the edge. Kyle Williams, Chris Kelsay and Copeland Bryant also, teamed up coming of different angles to pressure or sack Bills Quarterbacks. Lee Evans and Terrell Owens were busy men in practice today because they received the bulk of the passing plays with the first team unit. Evans have been working in the intermediate are of the football field in the first few practices. Edwards meanwhile, found Evans and Owens on deep wide open touchdown passes against a confused Bills Secondary. Overall Edwards was pretty happy with the progress that he has made with the corps of wideouts in terms of re-establishing the timing and rhythm. Defensively, Leodis McKelvin had a pass break up. Spencer Johnson and Kyle Williams had quarterback pressures and the move of the day by Williams where he tossed a lineman and pressured the Quarterback. Aaron Schobel also had a Quarterback pressure. Terrence McGee had a pass break up on a throw intended to Owens. Ellis Lankaster had a interception on a pass thrown to Stevie Johnston. Finally, Ko Simpson notched his first interception of camp on a pass initially deflected by Drayton Florence.

Buffalo Bills "Terrell Owens Show" Training Camp Day 1

Terrell Owens was the star of day in the opening of Buffalo Bills Training Camp. Owens was the last person out of the locker room and received large applause from the Bills fans. The Bills fans went crazy every time Owens touch the football. After practice Owens put his hand to his ear and wanted to see how loud the Bills fans would scream. Owens the brash and arrogant Wide Receiver signed autographs for 15 minutes. There were fans in the stands at St. John Fisher screaming I bought your cereal. That is what we expect from the fans so, the reception felt good when I came out said Owens. I am use to it. Everywhere I have been there has always been that type of reception. Every time I touch the ball there was a eruption. I don't know why it happens, Just a T.O. following I guess. I think it is great for our football team said, Coach Dick Jauron on the attention that Owens received. Obviously, he helps us as a player and then for our organization and city and franchise I think it is great. It adds a lot of excitement. It is terrific for us. Anything that I can do to keep the fans into it, and let them know that I am thankful for the Owens. I hear them and recognize them. The Bills were extremely upbeat and the team actually looked good in both practice sessions. Owens and Lee Evans caught seven passes in practice . Owens caught a 65 yard touchdown pass from Edwards down the sidelines. Marshawn "THUG" Lynch looked good running the football. It was a terrific start, said Coach Jauron. we are glad to start another NFL season. Finally, the Bills still have four unsigned draft picks Maybin and Wood there first round draft picks and Byrd and Levitre the second round draft picks. The Bills management expects to sign all four draft picks as soon as possible. Check out Terrell Owens Training Camp Video Day One Of Buffalo Bills Training Camp 2009 in the top right hand corner.

Buffalo Bills Hardy and Hawthorne Placed On PUP and Jon DiGiogio Waived Training Camp Day 1

The Buffalo Bills earlier today waived hard hitting linebacker Jon DiGiorgio who was set to enter his fourth year with the Bills because he, failed his training camp physical. The John DiGiorio move came as a bit of a surprise because he was a valued member of the Bills Special Teams and Linebacker Corps the last three season. DiGiorio surgically repaired knee has not responded as well as he would have hoped. DiGiorio suffered a torn ACL in week 6 against the San Diego Chargers last season. James Hardy and C.J. Hawthorne were put on the not ready to practice and were placed on the PUP. Being active on the PUP Hardy and Hawthorne can come off the PUP and re-join the team as soon they pass the team physical. Hardy is coming off ACL surgery and he expects to be back by the end of the preseason. Hawthorne had surgery on his foot and there is no expectation when he, will start participating in training camp anytime soon.

Buffalo Bills Fourth Round Draft Pick Shawn Nelson Signs 4 Year Deal Training Camp Day 1

The Buffalo Bills Fourth Round Draft Pick Shawn Nelson has signed a Four Year Deal. Friday Evening, Joel Segal told the Associated Press Friday evening that his client has agreed to a deal on his way to St. John Fisher in Rochester, New York, where the Buffalo Bills are holding there training camp. Shawan "Big Cat" Nelson is listed a 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds. Nelson had 47 starts in 52 career games at Southern Mississippi, where he finished with 157 reception for 2,054 yards and 16 touchdowns. The Buffalo Bills still have to sign the top four draft picks. There first round draft picks Maybin, Wood and Byrd and Levitre will be much harder to sign because the market has not been set for first or second round draft picks.

Buffalo Bills "Five Unsigned Draft Picks" Training Camp Day 1

The Buffalo Bills as early as Friday evening still have there top five draft picks unsigned. There are reports that Bills Shawn Nelson fourth round draft has yet, to sign along with the Bills first round draft picks Aaron Maybin and Eric Wood. The have also, have not signed there second round draft picks Jarius Byrd and Andy Levitre. Jim Overdorf and Russ Brandon negotiating teams are talking to all the parties and are hopeful that all "five draft picks" will be in training camp real soon. It might take some time for the Bills to sign there draft picks because of July 25 start to training camp and the market has not been set for the first and second round draft picks. The Bills management will have to wait until the domino's start falling when draft picks ahead of Aaron Maybin start signing contracts. The Bills management said that they are not going to negotiate any differently then they would normally do because they are the first team NFL Club to open training camp. The two most important Draft picks not signed are Eric Wood and Andy Levitre because the Offensive Line is in serious trouble after losing Pro Bowl Tackle Jason Peters to Philadelphia in a off season trade. Wood and Levitre are expected to compete for staring positions against veterans Curt Chambers and Seth McKinney. This will give Chambers and McKinney the inside track to winning both starting positions. Finally, these holdout rookies will not win a starting position on the Buffalo Bills in a local hotel room waiting to get signed to a contract. They must sign a quickly ass possible so, they can win a starting position. Buffalo Bills Blitz will be out at St. John Fisher in Rochester, New York. Have a great time at Bills Training Camp 2009.

Buffalo Bills Training Camp "Linebacker Sleepers" Pre-Training Camp Update July 24

Every year there are players who will emerge as surprises during Bills Training Camp. Some Free Agent will come out of nowhere to land a spot on the 53 man roster. There are also, some veterans fighting for a roster spot with the infusion of youth on the Buffalo Bills. The most important players to watch are Linebackers Marcus Buggs, Alvin Bowen, Nick Harris and Chris Ellis. Linebacker Marcus Buggs came close to making a roster spot but ended up on the practice squad. Buggs is a tough Linebacker and very aggressive at the point of attack. Buggs was put on the active roster during game eight because of his ability to play extremely well on special teams. Alvin Bowen a explosive Linebacker out of Iowa State injured his Knee last year during the Bills Training Camp will also, be fighting for a Linebacker position and he will have a uphill climb because of the Rookie Linebacker out of Oklahoma Nick Harris who was a outstanding Football player while, playing in the Big 12. Nick Harris will likely out preform both Buggs and Bowen in preseason to have a chance at one of winning the final Linebackers spots. Nick Harris has is future is his own hands because, he has the talent to be a starting linebacker in the NFL. I was surprised that Harris slipped to the fifth round after having a stellar career at Oklahoma. Chris Ellis head is on the chopping block when the Bills drafted Aaron Maybin from Penn State with there first round draft pick. Ellis was a victim of his own inexperience as he played sparingly on defense as a rookie before going on injured reserve for the last four games of the season. Ellis will have to make some big plays during training camp and preseason games to make the 53 man roster. Ellis was drafted to rush the passer and if he, does not show any progress in the preseason Ellis will be looking for a job in the new United Football League. The player I cannot wait to see is Alvin Bowen because he, was a solid linebacker at Iowa State and I am looking forward into seeing if he has regained his speed and quickness. Finally, this will be a tough training camp for Linebackers because it seems like there is maybe, one position open on the 53 man roster. There will be some serious hitting in the Bills Five preseason games from the players I have mentioned in this article.

Buffalo Bills Should Sign Micheal Vick After Reinstatment Pre-Training Camp Update July 23

The Buffalo Bills should Sign Micheal Vick as soon as the Commissioner Roger Goodell conditionally reinstates Vick for Training camp. Micheal Vick has already met with NFLPA Chief DeMaurice Smith and discussed his return to the NFL. The Commissioner is given complete authority under the NFL personal conduct policy to discipline players for legal troubles. The Union is not taking a formal position on Vick's potential reinstatement's. However the Union has expressed support for Vick on a personal level, with Smith having said in a written statement that he is hopeful Vick will get his life in order. League Officials declined to comment on about the specifics of a meeting between Goodell and Vick, or regarding Goodell's pending decision about Vick's eligibility to play. ESPN first reported that Vick's meeting with Goodell could come as early Thursday or Friday and conditional reinstatement could come next week. This will give the Buffalo bills a opportunity to sign a playoff caliber quarterback to backup Trent Edwards. Trent Edwards has a serious problem that he has not played a whole season in College or NFL without getting hurt for a extended period of time. Micheal Vick would be a excellent Backup Quarterbacks because he could lead the Bills to the playoffs if Trent Edwards is injured during the season. The Bills could sign Vick to a one-year minimum contract and it will not affect there salary cap in the future. Finally, the Buffalo Bills have nothing to lose in signing Micheal Vick because they already have a team full of players who have broken the law.

Buffalo Bills Marshawn Lynch Fresh Start" Pre-Training Camp Update July 22

This year will be a tough year for Marshawn Lynch because he starts the season with a suspension from the season opener against New England Patriots. Marshawn Lynch is as tough as they come, but a severe high ankle sprain in 2007 and and a badly bruised shoulder 2008 cost the Bills feature back to miss four and a half games over his first two years. Marshwan Said, The more hits, the more likely they are to suffer injuries. It is part of the game and the law of averages. In Lynch's case a lot of times the yards he had to fight for can make his 300 touches last year, I feel more like 400. He is not exactly the type of Running Back that shies away from contact. Marshawn is fully aware of his punishing and physically demanding Running style. The coaching staff wants to effectivley manage his carriers and plan to doing so by making use of Fred Jackson. To what degree remains to be seen until the season starts against the New England Patriots. The Bills plan on using the no-huddle offense and that means that there will be a rotation system between Lynch and Jackson. Over Lynch first two Seasons averaged 3.64 yards a carry in September and October(271-987 yds), 4.5 per carry in November and December (259-1,164 yds). With numbers like that and fresher legs in the second half of the season Lynch could do some serious damage. The Bills will have three capable Running Backs for the playoff push in December and that could put the Bills over the top for the final playoff spot. Finally, this Bills Offense should be ready to explode with the addition of Terrell Owens as Co-Number One Wide Receivers with Lee Evans.

Terrell Owens The Man And Football Player

We as football Fans know Terrell Owens by his outburst on the sidelines during Football Games and his controversial statements after games during the teams post game news conferences. Terrell Owens will go down as one of the greatest Wide Receivers in NFL History. Terrell is second in Touchdown catches with 139 touchdowns, 6th in receptions with 951 he, is currently tied with Andre Reed of the Buffalo Bills and 5th with 14,122 receiving yards. Terrell is still one of the games top game breakers and could open up the Bills Offense for Lee Evans. If you look at Terrell Owens First year with the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys he had tremendous year and did not cause any problems with the team chemistry. Maybe, that is why the Buffalo Bills only signed Terrell to a one year 6.5 million dollar contract. This will be Terrell Owens fourth team in his long Hall Of Fame career and it will be a fresh start when the Bills start training camp July 25. Terrell will be trying to rehabilitate his career and image so, he can get another contract extension for next year. Terrell will have to be on his best behavior because the media will be waiting for Terrell to make mistake so, they can pounce on the future Hall Of Fame Receiver. Terrell may destroy team chemistry in the lockeroom but, when you look at his career Terrell has been a outstanding citizen off the field. Terrell has never been in trouble with law and has been a supporter of many charities ever since, he became a NFL player. Therefore, with the Steve McNair, Micheal Vick and Donte Stallworth issues Terrell Owens should be considered a role model of the field. I wish Terrell would show that same character on the field that he shows off the field. Maybe, this will be the year that Terrell Owens will try and make that "Change". Finally, Bill Parcells once said that "YOU ARE WHAT YOUR RECORD SAYS YOU ARE" and if that statement is true we may have some TERRIBLE TIMES IN BUFFALO.

Buffalo Bills Pre-Training Camp 2009 July 19 Update

The Buffalo Bills are preparing for the 2009 Training Camp at St. John Fisher in Rochester, New York on July 25. There are some serious questions that will be needed to be answered by the Buffalo Bills if they are going to have a successful NFL season. Therefore, with the Bills making new additions and changes on the Offensive and Defensive Lines this season, many veterans will enter Training Camp preparing to fill a new positions. Even though the Bills have the top rated Special Teams in the NFL in 2008. There will be a void to fill. So, who will step forward and be a playmaker for Coach Bobby April 2009 Special Teams Unit. The Bills Running Back position is solid with Marshawn Lynch, Fred Jackson and newly acquired Dominic Rhodes from free agency. How will the Bills coach staff utilize the Running Backs in there new improved Offensive System. How will Terrell Owens and Lee Evans co-exist as "Number One Wide Receivers" within the Bills Offense. Everybody knows that you must get the Football in T.O. hands early in the game to keep his mouth shut on the sidelines. How will Trent Edwards play this Season with additional help at the Wide Receiver and Running Back positions. The Bills fans really won't to know will Trent Edwards make that next step and become, a top ten quarterback in the NFL. The NFL pundits are putting a lot of pressure on Trent Edwards to have a great season with the addition of Terrell Owens. Finally, will the Bills Sorry Ass coaching staff put all this talent in the right place so, that they can make crucial game winning plays during the Football Game. I am tired of watching some of the worst coaching in the Bills 50 years of football history. Some of these questions will be answered during Training Camp and the early Pre-Season Football Games.
